Authors' Note: I've been a lurker for awhile, thought I'd finally post something that I've been working on, inspired by one fic I read on here, so heres' chapter 1 of said fic.

Title: Another Place, Another Time
Chapter Title: Its' Just a Controller.
Pairings/Characters: Steve/Tony
Chapter Rating: PG (ratings due to change with each chapter)
Disclaimer: Marvel owns the characters.  Borrowed a basic idea from Ailette (The Missing Fourth Leaf, which was an excellent story by the way...)
Chapter Summary:  1 Seemingly ordinary NES controller 3 Missing Scientists = Tony's curious.

He had came in that friday to simply do some reports for a couple hours, make Pepper happy, then return home to his garage.  He never thought he'd find something so interesting within the confines of his office, yet so innocent looking.  So ordinary.

Tony opened the right door of his office and strolled to the desk, sitting down as his eyes fell upon the solitary object on the desk laying right the center just left of his keyboard.  It looked so ordinary that it seemed rather out of place.  It was a controller to one of those old nintendo entertainment systems that were created in the 1980s.  He stared at it perplexed for a moment before reaching towards the little speaker that connected his desk to Peppers, so he could contact her at any time.

He spoke as he pressed the button down.  "Pepper could you come in here for a moment?"

Within two seconds later his favorite redhead poked her head through the door.  "Where did this come from?"  He asked, pointing to the controller on his desk, one that didn't seem to have a cord attached to it.  The tall woman came into the office, walking briskly to the desk and stole a glance down at the controller.

"Oh that must be the thing R&D sent up yesterday, They wanted you to look at it."  She said in a nonchalant manner.

"Why do they want me to look at it?"  Tony asked, furrowing his eyebrows a little, "It looks like a controller to a common game deck."

"I don't know, heres the report they had sent with it."  Pepper said, pointing to the vanilla file on the desk next to the controller.

"Is that all, Mr. Stark?"  She asked her customary remark in a tone that meant she had alot of other things to do then discuss with him something that she would have no idea about anyways.  She was his personal assistant, meaning she knew almost nothing of the engineering world of which his genius had free reign over.

"That will be all, Miss Potts."  He sighed, sitting down and grabbing the file in one swift movement.  He glanced up momentarily to watch the fleeting assistant vanish behind the large wood door, returning to her work, before looking down at the report on this seemingly ordinary controller.

He skimmed it lightly; ...anonymous package arrived October 2nd, 2004.  ...engineers disappeared trying take apart.  A total of three tried and disappeared, dropping the controller on the ground before the vanishing, and have yet to return...

He read this and glanced up at the controller suspiciously.  Was this some kind of cruel joke?  People just don't disappear from trying to take apart a controller.  Curiousity was peaking though, as he set the file down with one hand and pulled the top right hand drawer of his desk.  He pulled out a screwdriver and took a hold of the antique controller.

"Let's see what you're made of." He muttered, flipping the controller over and beginning to unscrew the first screw.  Before he knew it everything went black.

He was on the ground now, sitting on a mud hill.  It was dark out, as he looked around curiously, before he started hearing gunshots.  Smoke drifted, the smell of blood, and burning flesh hit him full force, sending him to the ground.  He was to shell-shocked to put it mildly.  His back was now a inch into this sludge, that he thought was mud, but now he wasn't too sure.  He probably didn't even want to know.

Where the hell had that controller sent him?  Maybe the controller electrocuted him, and now he was dead and in hell.  After a few moments of the constant barrage of senses; sight, smell, and hearing.  The gunshots were giving a headache, the smell was making him nauseous, and the smoke was making his eyes water.  He turned over onto his stomach, now his entire body with the exception of his face, was covered in this dark sludge.  He looked around and saw the flashes of the guns firing off continuously.  The lights had briefly lit up the ground, which was basically more sludge and some hills.  He started to slowly crawl away from where he thought the fire was coming from but found more flashes in the directions he was going, gunshots coming from every direction.

He wanted to shout what the fuck is going on here, but he knew no one would hear him.  He suddenly felt a foot on his arm, pressing down hard.  He couldn't supress a yelp in pain, his other hand immediatly latching onto the foot.

"You're on my arm!"  He shouted, though his voice was muted.  The man above him paused, immediatly removing his foot then crouched down.  Tony stared up at him, but still only saw a black sillouette.  Before he knew it, the man pulled him over his shoulder and started running in the direction he had been originally intended.  As Tony rose in the air, he felt a intense pressure on his left shoulder, he then felt an explosion of pain starting a the back of his neck and then everything went black.

I haven't been on here to update in a... 10 weeks it tells me.  Lol.  Well, to tell you the truth, I forget about this place, and if it weren't for a few well placed friends, i'd continue to ignore/forget it until the point where I come back and don't remember the password. heh.

So what has been going on in Peanut's world?  Alot.  I had the whole registration for classes mess during my time away from this site.  And for the record, I hate being a college freshmen.  Why?  Because I can't take any bloody classes.  I was in that ackward area were I needed to take higher level classes, and was exempted from the 100 level classes, the problem is theres grad students, seniors, and juniors, and some sophomores, that register before I and they take the classes that I NEED and WANT.  Anyways, I had to beg for the one class because I could not live without it...meaning I'd seriously be behind if i didn't take it then.  :P

School is ending in a couple of weeks, so my internet access time will be severely cut in at least in half, more like 3/4s.  No more late night chats on AIM, sadly.  I'll be at home, going to bed at 11pm at the latest, and waking up at 8am for work.  Yes, work 5/7 of the days a week, sounds like complete boredom.

But Alas, I have 1 week were I get to go up North for a drawing class, to merge myself with the wild and do some hardcore natural observational drawing.  For 2 credits, w00t.  I'm excited for that.

Anything else?  Not really, I've done several drawings, you can check my dA page out for that.  Hell, you can check my dA page for more accurate and timely updates on life, boredom, and just plain silly from the world of the Nut.

peace friends.

I better write this down so I can get into a better mood.  I always seem to feel better after doing a tangent journal after...

Anyways.

I pissed an co-worker off.  I didn't mean too, and she flat out told me I was being rude at point out the errors, in the way I point them out and it pisses her off.  I Don't conciously try to offend and be rude.  Really I dont.  It's too troublesome to be ill-tented rude.  Especially for one who is as guilt-ridden as I am.  I stress over things like this, and I can't let them go.  I also think thats also part of the problem with me coming off as rude, its how i say it, and how I Cannot let it go.  I drag it out farther then it should.

Also my problem is the fact of the subtle differences between where i use to work and where I work now.  Where I use to work, EVERYONE was more or less on the same page with EVERYTHING.  Now its hard to tell what people know how to do and what they don't know how to do.  Things aren't exactly all that different procedural wise, I guess.  But I harp on the small details.  We are suppose to paper clip these things if they are different invoices, and only staple if they are the same invoice (duplicate or part 2 whatever).  Or, when it comes to the punch cards, only one extended viewing charge may be taken care of at the time, and each punch is a day.  The first one isn't that big of a deal (I dunno why I even brought it up...) But the other, if the other employees take all the late fees off and just do one punch per late fee, I GET YELLED AT BY THE CUSTOMER WHEN I DO IT CORRECTLY!  ...well...they go off into a tangent about 'this wasn't how the other person did it...'

...I use to be that way, one late fee one punch, but I GOT TOLD NOT TOO!  ... I dunno anymore.  I didn't mean to sound rude to the co-worker, I want her to like me.  (thats why i'm so hung over this, and withy every other thing, I WANT PEOPLE TO LIKE ME! ...)  I need to work on wording and socializing.  How to tell someone that they are doing it wrong without sounding so bloody snobby.  I also need to learn to let things go and not harp on them like this...

It just irritates me though.  It irritates me that I can't function normally, that I can't be f*cking polite and point out what's wrong at the same time.  HOW DO YOU DO IT?!  Masters of politeness, please coach me... I need it...  Also tutoring on writing notes without sounding like i'm royally pissed off.

Humans are difficult creatures... I love the species, but I just cannot be appart of it....socially at least...

I know... I am sounding incredibly emo with this, but I had to.

Still cannot relocate where I got that date!! Its frustrating, I was like what the F***. Maybe I was hallucinating or something after whatnot. Because you know what started this all, was a conversation with a co-worker whos' lil brother is obsessed with Heroes (such as I) said their mother saw a commerical about a new episode or something on tv, and of course I needed to investigate which i found the volume three teaser...and yea... (I'm still looking for that commerical on TV to see what the hell is going on there, and to relocate that site with that date...O.O)

Anyways Onto my speculations and plausible answers to the questions I brought up earlier... Again if you haven't seen the teaser go to youtube and find it because otherwise this journal will mystify you beyond belief.

Onto My questions:

Who's the black guy who killed the cops? Why did he kill them? What is His power?

Well my only speculation is hes the one whose going to basically replace DL. I think his power is probably something along the lines of you know in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom when the guy ripes out the heart of the other without a problem. I think this is something like the power this new guy can do.

Why is Angela pairing up with Sylar? What does she intend to do with these powerful beings that she is talking about?

I think we will see Angela's power in Volume 3. And the reason why I think she would pair up with Sylar is to get hands on the other heroes without getting HER hands dirty. She also seemed to be discussing this with others, possibly some of the living big 12. And there was a snippet of possibly 5? people coming towards her and Sylar. Maybe the living big 12 pair up with the living known heroes to bring down sylar and Angela and whoever else.

Elle has Sylar bounded to a table? Does Sylar Kill Elle?

I Honestly have no speculation on this, I am mystified still... @.@

Who Shot Nathan? Is He going to die?

Arthur Petrelli. I will NOT back down from this theory that Petrelli Sr. is still alive. Seriously Angela's lied about everything else, why not this too? Arthur's probably working as a co-vert executive to get people like Peter and Adam in the underground prison.

I Hope Nathan lives. I'd like to see what they could do with his powers. After reading the snippet on the Activating Evolutions page about aerokinesis and how Nathan's power of flight might be more and with more training he could be proven to be an aerokinetic. That would be cool to see since the power of flight is more of a defensive/escape/avoidment move instead of a more offensive one like the possibility of creating a tornado as the lil snippet on that site suggests.

What is the Pandora's Box?

The press will be swarming over the fact that a former elected congressman got shot in the middle of nowhere in Texas right as he was about to reveal something HUGE. But they didn't get it, so they will be asking questions raising suspicision. In which is why Angela's gotta meet with the remaining executives with the Company to stop this threat of exposure and blah blah blah. Plus the whole fact that Peter and Matt will probably be after them for what they did to Nathan.

Flash of Matt with his throat slit, WTF?!

Okay, My speculation is He left Nathan in Peter's care and went after the figure that was walking away during the shooting. He catchs up with him, messes up and eventually gets caught. Then the shooter slits his throat so he doesn't talk.

Another mini alteration to the speculation above. The shooter could be working with Maury Parkman, in which when Matt gets caught by it, he is cast into a nightmare in which he is killed (by having his throat slit).

What About Adam?

I read somewhere that Ali Larter (the actress who played Nikki) will be returning not as Nikki but as a relative of Adams'. And with that thought in mind, the relative finds out that Hiro buried her relative alive and goes to retreive to Adam.

Hiro/Ando?

No clue, the clips in the teaser were so seemingly random that I couldn't quite put a finger in a direction of where that is going... So no speculations for them.

Nothing on the whole Mohinder, Molly, and Maya arc thing either. Also nothing for the Monica and Micah group.

Damn there are alot of M names in Heroes... O.O

Okay for those who have not seen the teaser, get your asses over to youtube and look it up, I know its not the best quality (none of them are, I looked)  But I was able to hear and get most of it.  Rumor has it its returning April 23rd, and I hope to got my source is not joking with me or they're will be hell to pay for getting my hopes up HIGH! (EDIT: Okay I have NO idea where I got April 23rd from....I can't find the site anymore, so Sorry Folks who are as frustrated and disappointed as I am)

Anyways Lets talk teaser.

This volume definitly has the feel of FAR MORE sinister then anything we've seen from Heroes thus far.  Horror look almost, Should be interesting.  I couldn't quite make out Angela's narrative but She's definitly a villian.  She is apparently working with Sylar...Which all I can say is, Holy Shit, The heroes are doomed.

And and I think i saw a flash of Matt with his throat slit?! MY GOD NO NOT MATT, Please don't kill him writers, He was my ORIGINAL favorite and I love the Nathan/Matt duo you had with season 2... Which reminds me, MY GOD NO NOT NATHAN EITHER! I am telling you writers right now, KEEP THEM ALIVE! you can torment them all you like, but as long as they are on the show...and in relatively in one piece, i'll be happy.

But yea the teaser set up a whole new realm of questions.

Who's the black guy who killed the cops? Why did he kill them?  What is his Power?

Why is Angela pairing up with Sylar?  What does she intend to do with these powerful beings that she is talking about?  It most definitly involves Sylar and Peter.  Since they are the strongest seemingly amung the folks with abilities.

And Elle has Sylar (how'd she catch him)?  OOO... I had a flash of Sylar tied down like he was and Elle doing naughty things to him (Yes my mind is in the gutter).   Does Sylar kill Elle?

Hmm... So many new questions....

Oh and the older ones.

Who shot Nathan?

What is the pandora's box?

Is Nathan gonna die? (please, no.)

I'll do a speculations post next when I've had time to think over what i've seen and attempt to speculate on the answers to these questions.

My night XD.

Alright tonight I had a power-outage at school.  For about ten minutes the whole town was out apparently, but they got their power back.  However the campus and dormitories did not get their power back until an hour and a half later.  I spent a good portion of my night sitting in the hallway reading.

I am currently reading, 'Into the Wild' by Jon Krakauer.  If you have not read this book or seen the movie, I Highly reccommend it.  I have seen the movie twice in the theatres, and even went as far as to by the entire soundtrack from the Itunes store.  I bought the book with money I got for my birthday and been working my way through it slowly ever since.  It is not that I am a slow reader, I think I am rather decent paced, it is just hard to find the time to sit down and read without distraction.

I found a few quotes from the book important, and I won't elaborate much, just put them down in the journal as they are important to me.

'It is true that many creative people fail to make mature personal relationships, and some are extremely isolated.  It is also true that, in some instances, trauma, in the shape of early separation or bereavement, has steered the potentially creative person toward developing aspects of his personality which can find fulfillment in comparative isolation. But this does not mean that solitary, creative pursuuits are themselves pathological.

[A]voidance behavior is a response designed to protect the infant from behaviourial disorganization.  If we tranfer this concept to adult life, we can see that an avoidant infant might verl well develop into a person whose principal need was to find some kind of meaning and order in life which is not entirely, or even chiefly, dependent upon interpersonal relationships.
-Anthony Storr, Solitude: A Return to the Self'
(Krakauer 61).

And

'It may, after all, be the bad habit of creative talents to invest themselves in pathological extremes that yield remarkable insights but no durable way of life for those who cannot translate their psychic wounds into significant art or thought.
- Theodore Roszak, "In Search of the Miraculous" '
(Krakauer 70).

I shall leave you with that.

Peace Out

I have actually been banned from a movie...

The last time I was banned from a movie was when I was too young and it was to violent or too sexual. This movie is none of that, but yet my parent has told me I must not see it, and we are boycotting it.

This movie is 'Golden Compass'. I had noticed that there had been a bit of controversy over it, but I figured it was like any other movie which had controversy in it (etc. Harry Potter, Da Vince Code, etc.)

No big deal. How wrong I was. I was talking with my parent, telling them my plans about going to see the movie tonight. I got a firm, 'No'. I ask why. They ask if I have heard about the controversy. I said yea, something about it promoting atheism, right? What's the deal? She tells me I can't see it because somewhere she read that in the third book in this series they kill god, no implying towards it or any of that, just flat out do it. Of course I am confused, but I am obedient and tell her I won't see it. It really shocked me because this is the first time i've been banned from a movie for a reason like that. (We aren't a hugely religious family).

I don't even mention the fact that she is talking about the third book when the movie is based on the first, and the fact that I've read that most of the religious symbolism has been taken out of the movie.

That though rose some frustration for me. It is a book...a movie. FICTION! And yet we have controversy over it being blasphemy.... IT IS NOT REAL! Why do they start fights over something that is suppose to be purely entertainment? I don't understand.

I don't have time to delve further into my transgressions over this topic, just needed to vent a little.

For Noelle-chan... XD

There was A Reason... (Formerly Behind Enemy Lines)

Chapter 2

When he did come around he found himself on his back, on a piece of fabric. He opened his eyes and glanced around to find himself strapped down to an army made stretcher, which consisted of a green cloth tied to two sticks. There were three straps around his body, one for chest and elbows, one for hands and waist, and the last for his legs. They secured him to the lousy stretcher, and wool blanket was over him for warmth probably. It did little good, Nathan thought, as he felt himself shivering, from both the agony localized in his leg, and the snowy climate of the foreign land.

He looked up to the man carrying the end of the stretcher where his head was. The soldier was fully dressed for these wintery conditions, and the blue helmet signified that he was a UN soldier. Nathan lifted his head with a bit of effort, to see a similar appearance from the other soldier. It was then that the other one noticed he was awake and looked down to Nathan.

"We are almost at the base, just don't try to move." He ordered Nathan, who nodded softly and just continued to rest his head on the fabric beneath him as the troop ambled along, closing his eyes along with the movement.

---------------------------------------------------

The next time he came to, he found himself in a mess of cords and the definite scent of sterile-ness, as well as a definite lack of the pain of before. He opened his eyes an inch, only to close them again after being assaulted by a deadly bright light. he turned his head away, blinking a few times before adjusting to the flourescent light.

"Lt. Petrelli" He heard his name, as he found the one who spoke it. It was the medical doctor from the base he was stationed at. He nodded shortly in response. He couldn't believe how tired he felt. The fatigue seemed to have taken the place of everything else. He closed his eyes again, before the doctor could continue.

---------------------------------------------------

"Nathan?" He heard his father's voice. He opened his eyes an inch to meet the stoic expression of his father towering over his bed.

"How long...has it been?" He heard himself speak, he felt it, but some how the voice didn't sound like his. It was hoarse, quiet, and void of any human characteristics.

"4 weeks, Nathan." Arthur answered. Four weeks since when? Since he crashed...since he was here. Where ever here was? Nathan never liked confusion much.

"Since when?" He asked. He was still disgusted at how unhuman his voice sounded, how raw and hoarse it was. Could it even be counted as a voice?

"Since they found you in the POW camp." His father answered, still sporting the stone-faced expression. POW camp? Nathan didn't remember any camp, of any sort. His expression must have been clear confusion, as his father continued to explain.

"Your plane went down 4 months ago, they told us you were MIA after finding the wreckage and not finding a body or anything near by... Four weeks ago they had an operation to take down an unoffical POW camp, and found you among the other soldiers who were barely alive." There were very few times that Nathan was grateful that his father too was in the military, and this was one of those few times.

Though now there was a whole new situation of unsettling news. He had a five month memory gap apparently. The last thing he did remember was running from the plane which was about to explode...then nothing.

Nathan lifted his head with great effort and saw his chest was covered in bandages, as well as his arms. From the neck down he was basically a mummy. His left leg was in a thick cast which was levated. After a moment longer he let the back of his head reach the pillow once again, exhausted from the effort.

"Last thing I remember...was the plane exploding..." He looked to his father tiredly. Arthur then placed a hand on Nathans' shoulder, squeezing it gently with comfort and sighed.

"It will come back..." He said quietly. "Now you should rest, your mother and Peter have been beside themselves, and anxious to see you. They'll be here in a few hours." Another clue. They weren't at a hospital near home. The first location that came to mind was a hospital in Germany, where they often placed wounded soldiers who weren't quite ready to make the trip over the ocean back to the states. A middle ground between the hostile terraitory and the homeland.
